Event Report: KTVI 1st Anniversary Event "Kyushu-Taiwan Academia Special Dialogue Sessions" (June 29–30, Fukuoka)

6/29/26, 2:30 PM

On June 29 (Mon) and 30 (Tue), 2026, the Kyushu-Taiwan Future Institute (KTVI) held its 1st anniversary event, "Kyushu-Taiwan Academia Special Dialogue Sessions," at ACROS Fukuoka (co-hosted by Aoba-BBT).

Centered on the question "In the age of AI, what do we rely on to make decisions?", the event featured seven sessions spanning AI, organizational transformation, talent, education, and regional strategy. We also announced the launch of Cohort 2 of GENxBORDER, our next-generation leadership program.

■ Day 1 (June 29): Foundations of questioning and thinking
・Session 1 "How Will 'the Company' Change in the Age of AI?" Hideyuki Kondo (Accenture)
・Session 2 "The Primal Brain Organizations Need to Survive in the Age of AI" Sogen Ichikado (Representative, Hokusai Inc. / Associate Professor, BBT University)
・Session 3 "Problem Solving with AI as Your Strategist" Reiichiro Uno (Managing Executive Officer, Aoba-BBT)

Moving from how AI works and its limits, to the value of intuition, embodiment, and tacit knowledge that AI cannot replace, to ways of designing questions together with AI, Day 1 explored the foundations of decision-making.

■ Day 2 (June 30): Practice and crossing borders
・Session 4 "Decision-Making and Transformation in the Age of AI: Lessons from Taiwan" Kevin Hsu (online from Taiwan)
・Session 5 "From Data-Driven Management to AI-Driven Management" Takashi Yanase (President & CEO, GooDay Co., Ltd.)
・Session 6 "How to Learn in the Age of AI" Kosuke Homma (Chairman, Persol Research and Consulting / Director, The Asahi Shimbun Company)
・Session 7 "Why Do We Need to 'Cross Borders' in the Age of AI?" Naoki Kumamoto (Representative Director, KTVI)

Practices at different levels were shared: Taiwan's national AI strategy, a regional company's shift to AI-driven management, and how individuals and organizations learn. The event concluded by presenting "crossing borders" as the key that runs through them all, and by announcing the vision for GENxBORDER Cohort 2.

■ Guests and congratulatory remarks
We were honored to receive remarks from Yutaka Aso (Chairman, Aso Corporation) and Director-General Chen Ming-chun (Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka, Fukuoka Branch). We also received congratulatory messages on our first anniversary from Dean Li Tsung-han of Tamkang University and Chairman Wang Chung-hsu of K WAY Information.

■ Our first year
Since our founding in April 2025, KTVI has met more than 425 people across universities, companies, government, healthcare, startups, and more. We have held more than 10 events and symposiums, collaborated with more than 13 partner organizations, and hosted interns from the graduate school of National Chengchi University, building up real implementation that goes beyond exchange alone.

■ Looking ahead
In August 2026, GENxBORDER Cohort 2 will begin under the theme "Crossing Borders × AI." Through concrete collaboration in industry, education, and talent development between Japan and Taiwan, KTVI will continue to bring "Beyond Borders, Build the Future." to life.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the speakers, distinguished guests, and everyone who participated and supported the event.
