[News] "TAIWAN INSIDE" Launch Commemorative Event Held
A Special Session on the Present and Future of the Japan–Taiwan Semiconductor Industry
On Friday, November 7, 2025, the Kyushu-Taiwan Future Institute (KTVI), co-hosting with the Taiwan Japan Research Institute, held the "TAIWAN INSIDE Launch Commemorative Event" at the Seinan Community Center in Fukuoka. The event was planned as a special lecture on the future of Japan and Taiwan, marking the launch of "TAIWAN INSIDE," a new media outlet offering in-depth insight into Taiwan's industry and society.
We welcomed Lin Hong-wen, one of Taiwan's leading industry commentators; Peng Chien-wen, who led frontline reform as TSMC's head of education and training; and Hiroki Yamaguchi, a management adviser who connects Japan and Taiwan, for discussions on the latest trends and future outlook for the semiconductor industry, organizational reform, and talent development.
■ Event report
● Session 1
"Taiwan's Industrial Transformation and Future Structure" / Lin Hong-wen
Lin positioned the development of Taiwan's semiconductor industry, centered on TSMC, as a "national model," and offered incisive analysis of:
* U.S.–China rivalry and the renewed Trump tariffs
* The global realignment driven by surging AI demand
* The cultural foundation of "speed, quality, and responsibility" that Taiwan has built
He also said, "Kyushu is now beginning to take on a new role as a strategic hub in Asia," emphasizing the importance of Japan and Taiwan working together to draw a new industrial map.
● Session 2
"Beyond Border, Build Myself ― TSMC Inside" / Peng Chien-wen
Introducing TSMC-style problem-solving methods such as the "PJ method" and the concept of "yield of thinking," Peng presented the message that "organizational transformation begins with individual transformation." He shared concrete, practice-based insights into how autonomous action, rapid decision-making, and a co-creative team culture were cultivated on the front lines.
■ Organizer's comment
Naoki Kumamoto (Representative Director, Kyushu-Taiwan Future Institute)
"When Taiwan's knowledge meets Kyushu's front lines, a new ecosystem of value creation is born. This event is the first step. With 'crossing borders of knowledge' as our keyword, we will continue the dialogue that opens up the future of Japan and Taiwan."
